The ice surfaces at the Servus Sports Centre are going to be ready early next month.

On Thursday, Nov. 1,  the public will have access to the centre's Rusway and Robert B. Holmes ice surfaces.

The City installed a new 100-tonne air conditioning unit and glycol cooled split condenser at the facility to provide high quality ice surfaces for public use and to maintain cool temperatures during the summer months for visitors and tenants.

“Now that the equipment is installed, we are able to offer the residents of Lloydminster two year-round ice surfaces for their use and enjoyment. This is exciting news for Lloydminster’s recreation community,” said Community Services Deputy CAO Ken Coleman. “We would like to thank residents and user groups for their patience and understanding during the installation period.”

The installation of the air conditioning unit and the glycol cooled split condenser began in June, following City Council’s approval to purchase the equipment in April.
