Alberta's Red Tape Task Force Report Publicized

The Alberta government has published the findings of a report from the Red Tape Reduction Task Force. The group has been examining the problems small business owners encounter with the province's regulatory system and come back with four recommendations.
In addition to supporting a more accommodating culture in public service, the task force says the province should help companies get the help they need, ensure small business has input in rule changes, and the provinces should work with other governments to streamline the system.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is pleased with the report but would like to see more done to address the challenges of operating a small business in the province.
“The time for action is now, it’s clear and we’ve been pressing the government to get on its horse and get going for some time now.” said Richard Truscott, Alberta Director. He says the report is a step in the right direction but more needs to be done.
According to Truscott there is a mountain of paperwork small businesses have to tackle and part of the problem is knowing what rules and regulations apply to them. Another concern is knowing what resources are available to help business owners navigate the hurdles of Alberta's regulation framework.
