NewsRenovations Underway for the Wainwright Hotel
Thursday, May 10, 2012 - 10:49 AM The Wainwright Hotel is now officially under renovation. The 80 year old building is in the process of being converted into the Buffalo Park Centre and Regional Archives. The Buffalo Park Foundation has been working ten long years to preserve the regional history of the town and Buffalo National Park and the changes to the hotel are a big part of that preservation. Gord Snyder is the Foundation's Publicity and Promotions Coordinator and he says the public was recently invited to take a look at the structure to get a sense of how it was and how it will be. In order to maintain the building as a provincial historic site Snyder says the renovations have to be done within certain guidelines to maintain its integrity. When it's complete the new Buffalo Park Centre and Regional Archives will provide permanent exhibit space to tell the Buffalo National Park story, provide rotational exhibit space to attract outside exhibitions, and more.
